How a review gets made

From launch build to published verdict

Every piece follows the same four-stage process so you know exactly how our numbers are earned. Editorial hours: Mon–Fri, 9am–6pm AEST.

01

Full playthrough — 20–60 hrs

We finish the game before we score it. Every review logs real completion time and difficulty settings, never a two-hour preview dressed up as a verdict.

02

Hardware benchmarking

Frame-time captures on a mid-range 1080p rig, a Steam Deck and console — so our performance notes reflect what most Australian players actually own.

03

Retro remaster deep-dive

Side-by-side comparisons of remasters against the originals — texture work, input latency and cut content — for our weekly "Then / Now" column.

04

Membership — from A$6/month

Ad-free reading, early access to reviews and a members-only Discord VOD room for our Fitzroy meetups. Cancel any time, no lock-in contract.

What our readers keep coming back for

"Bought a Steam Deck purely off their performance breakdown and it was spot on. Finally a review site that lists actual frame-times instead of vibes."

Jordan M. — Carlton, VIC · Mar 2025

"The Then / Now remaster column is my Sunday read. They caught cut content in a re-release that nobody else even mentioned."

Priya S. — Brunswick, VIC · Jan 2025

"Went to their Fitzroy meetup after joining the membership. Genuinely the friendliest gaming crowd I've found in Melbourne."

Callum R. — Footscray, VIC · Feb 2025
